There are also many tips you can use to feel better in a given outfit. If your goal is to balance your figure proportions, a good choice might be, for example:

• a V-neckline - if you want to visually lengthen your neck and emphasise your bust; 

• accents around the shoulders (e.g. a poncho) - to slightly widen the upper body; 

• or delicate draping or a belt at the waist - if you want to add volume to a well-proportioned figure or emphasise the waistline. 

The cut is also important. Women with an hourglass figure look great in dresses that emphasise the waist. In their case, a mermaid or pencil cut will work well. On the other hand, women with a round figure usually opt for a distinct A-line cut (tight at the top, flaring at the bottom) to slim the body a little.

What colour to choose?

Exclusive evening dresses are made of thin or heavier fabrics. Available in a variety of colours – from subdued to bright and patterned – they can be matched to the occasion or season. 

In summer, we most often reach for light colours associated with nature, such as pink, orange, pastels, coral and mint. In winter, muted reds, greens, fuchsia and navy blue are more popular. The most versatile colours are, of course, black and shades of white and beige. 

However, the colour of an exclusive evening dress should also be chosen to suit your beauty type. People with a cool complexion are best suited to cool colours such as pink, turquoise, white, navy blue, silver or purple. On the other hand, a warm beauty type looks good in shades of green, brown, beige and gold. 

For the most formal occasions, it is worth choosing subdued colours, i.e. black, beige and darker shades of red or green.
